Порода ипе

Ipe can be used on open areas, outdoors: the wood is very durable (lifetime can exceed 25 years).

Other names of ipe are Lapacho, Madera negra, Amapa, Kortez, Guayacan plovillo, Flor Amarillo, Greenheart (Suriname), Tahuari, Brazilian walnut.

After drying and processing ipe wood is geometrically stable. Wood is very stable to rot, fungi and termites. Wood has high stability when chemically treated. Ipe contains substances that have bactericidal, fungicidal and anticancer actions.

Parquet from ipe and massive board from ipe are very popular thanks to high technical characteristics and colour. Parquet from ipe is resistant to soakage, elastic and hard to the degree that there remain no marks after walking on high heels. In the course of time noble dark brown colour acquires light tint ("silver patina") that adds uniqueness and peculiarity to parquet flooring.

Parquet from this wood species can be used in order to create interiors in different style solutions: minimalism, Art Deko, ethno, etc. Bear in mind that ipe is rather spotty and colour drops are possible.

Color and texture

Colour can vary from light yellowish-brown with greenish gleam to dark brown depending on growth area. Under the influence of light it darkens some time later. Wood is very heavy, stable. It contains oily substances. Sapwood is relatively wide. .
