Moscow City Government

The building was built in 1782 according to the project by Mikhail Kazakov. It was the residence of the count Zinoviy Chernyshev who was Governor General of Moscow. The building was one of the biggest administration building outside the Kremlin.

After Chernyshev's death the manor was purchased at the expense of the treasury. After the October revolution the Moscow City Council was housed in that building. Since 1993 the building has been under the authority of the Moscow Government.

In the pictures below one can see the decking before the restoration. The decking is made of teak. It is a unique material that is ideally suit for using outdoors. Teak is not afraid of moisture and temperature extremes, it is resistant to fungus and mould. At the same time teak has an excellent appearance. But even such unique wood needs protective maintenance. It can be seen in the picture that the flooring needs repairing.

Time of restoration work was strictly related to weather conditions: the weather should have been dry and warm three days before the beginning of work and three days after the application of the protective oil.

Technology of reconstruction of such flooring is the same as process of parquet sanding. Two coats of protective oil were applied. This oil protects decking from UV rays, high and low temperatures, high humidity.
