We have done the layout, produced and installed parquet flooring in the office of the company «Huawei Technologies» in China. Total area of parquet flooring is 320 sqm.

The works were started in 2015. We had a task to recreate the historical parquet flooring found in the residences of the Russian emperors: the Winter Palace (Malachite Room) and the Grand Kremlin Palace (Aleksandrovsky Hall). Parquet flooring with complicated and intricate  decor is unique in its scale and art value.

The Winter Palace was built in 1754-1762 according to the drawings by Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli. The exterior form of the Palace's architecture is Baroque.

The Grand Kremlin Palace was built in the middle of the 19th century under the management of Konstantin Thon in Russian-Byzantine style.

The design-project of parquet flooring was made by the company's designers according to the detailed photos.

First room

According to the task set the company's designers recreated the Malachite Room. To make the absolute copy of the room the designers used 15 wood species and a special technique graphie.

In the end the clients decided to simplify the flooring decor at the same time preserving the main historical elements. The aim was that the parquet design should be recognisable.

Second room

The task was not to recreate completely the parquet flooring of the Aleksandrovsky Hall because the room was not big enough (200 sqm). The clients were very interested in the decorative border with thin vines and flowers. Exactly this element served as a basis for the whole parquet flooring.

The clients liked the recreated element very much. In the parquet flooring in the Aleksandrovsky Hall there is wood of green-blue colour. Our designers have decided to use Palo Santo. This greenish colour can rarely be found in other wood.

The concept of the project was changed after the furniture was arranged. A big table should be placed in the centre of the room. In this case the central decorative element would have been hidden. It was decided to place the decorative ornament along the perimeter of the composition. The central part of the room should be decorated with tiles with floral ornament. The clients liked the tiles that were produced for the Faceted Chamber, and these tiles were used as the base for this room.

A new task was set for us - to combine harmoniously the chosen ornaments.

After the design-project was signed the samples were made to be confirmed before the start of production. The clients paid special attention to the homogenious colour of wood.

For example, the clients were not satisfied with the fact tha Palo Santo is quite variegated. Consequently it was decided to stain ash because this wood has even structure and it is possible to receive homogenious colour.

To facilitate the process of installation parquet flooring was delivered to China assembled or in the template. The details were connected to each other by a Scotch tape. On site the details are glued to each other and sanded.

The Italian company Chimiver Panseri S.p.A. together with our colouristic laboratory elaborated the product for staining ash in the green colour.

Ash was stained on site. It was the company's first experience in staining separate curvilinear elements of designed parquet flooring.
