The Saints Martha and Mary Convent of Mercy
The Saints Martha and Mary Convent of Mercy is a unique charitable and social institution in the metochion of His Holiness. The convent was founded in February 23, 1909, by Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna (sister of Alexandra Feodorovna, the last Empress of Russia) who is counted among the Russian New Martyrs.
The complex of the Saints Martha and Mary Convent of Mercy includes 10 buildings: orphan asylum, school, polyclinic, convent, museum and other buildings. The Convent deals not only with traditional for this institution acts of mercy, it also carries out educational, religious and cultural activities (according to www.mmom.ru, www.wmos.ru/obitel/). The reconstruction of Convent began in 1992.
“The reconstruction of historical appearance of the Convent and the realization of charity programmes began in 2006 with the programme “Renewal of the Saints Martha and Mary Convent of Mercy”. Moscow best building and reconstruction organizations were engaged in reconstruction works” (according to “Moskovskaya perspektiva”, September 16, 2008).
The company Art Parquet accomplished production and installation works (total area is 1200 sqm). One of the difficulties was to accomplish works in the shortest possible time. The company Art Parquet completed works successfully.
