The Union of Architects of Russia
For the company Art Parquet the project “The Union of Architects of Russia” was the first project where palace parquet was used.
Art Parquet produced copies of parquet flooring installed in the Chinese palace. The Chinese palace was built in 1762-1768 as “Private dacha” for Catherine II. The Empress showed this palace as her favourite “precious toy”.
The company’s designers and constructors worked with the factory in close cooperation in order to reconstruct the original design of parquet flooring trying to save all the elements. The main problem was that the details’ minimum size was limited by equipment capabilities. Great attention was paid to the selection of wood species.
The project “The Union of Architects of Russia” was a starting point for the company Art Parquet to work out own technologies of parquet production that would help to produce minute details with high accuracy. Moreover, this project gave a fresh impetus to the designers’ and artists’ creativeness and opened new possibilities for restoration and reconstruction of parquet flooring of cultural and historical value.
