Moscow state open-air museum "Kolomenskoye"
One of the main events of the celebration of the Town Day was opening of the Palace of Tsar Aleksey Mikhailovich in "Kolomenskoye" (residence of grand dukes of Moscow and Russian tsars since the 14th century).
Unique architectural complex represents a great artistic and historical value. Its territory is a valuable national landscape. The better part of the territory is occupied by parks, picturesque ravines, high hills, watery waste of the Moskva River. This is a unique reserve with historical and architectural monuments situated practically in the centre of Moscow.
The Palace of Tsar Aleksey Mikhailovich was being built in 1667-68, its finishing continued till 1671. The contemporaries were amazed by the richness and decor of royal chambers. 100 years later the Palace was taken to pieces according to the order of the empress Catherine the Great. Only in the beginning of the 21st century the Palace was reconstructed in the south part of the open-air museum according to the saved documentary witnesses and represents a model of the Palace of the 17th century.
24 interiors were reconstructed in the Palace including the Mansion of the monarch, the Mansion of the monarchess and the Mansion of tsarevitch. The subject of interiors is ornaments and mythological characters of antiquity (on materials mgomz.ru/news.asp, www.museum.ru/M304).
Art Parquet enjoyed the privilege of reconstruction the masterpiece of the Russian art of building: the Palace of Tsar Aleksey Mikhailovich (Apartments of Elizabeth Petrovna). Parquet flooring was restored according to archive documents provided by restorers and museum architects. The company’s artists chose wood species and dimensions for mosaic parquet, created design-project and 3-D project.
The company’s designers assumed that "the main for constructors and restorers is not to restore the walls only, but the spirit of history as well. In this respect a great deal depends on how interior design will be restored. From inside the Palace was skilfully painted and carved. Thin grass ornaments, flowers, emblems, historical and biblical scenes were among the Palace paintings. The Mansion of the monarchess were decorated by the allegories of seasons, the moon and the stars (according to "Rossiyskaya gazeta", issue No 4674 dd June 2, 2008).
